Hi everyone! My trusty old Indesit WG 1031 TP is having a problem—it’s stopped draining and gets stuck on the rinse cycle. It’s a very reliable machine, one of those old “tough” Indesits, so I really don’t want to just throw it away. I’m looking for a knowledgeable repairman who isn’t afraid to tackle a classic model, or some practical advice on where to look myself. Right now, I’m trying to figure out where the drain filter is located and how to get to it without having to take the entire front panel apart.

The old manuals only mention this briefly, and I’m afraid I might break something out of ignorance. Anyone who’s dealt with this series, please advise: does the pump often fail on these, or could it just be a clog in the pipe? Another question for those who’ve actually repaired these models—is it worth replacing the bearings now if a slight hum has started, or are the parts these days of such poor quality that it’s easier not to mess with it?

Oh, I feel for you—it’s hard to find a durable washing machine these days; modern ones break down often. Mine is about 10 years old and has been repaired 2 or 3 times, though only once under warranty.
